Marloes de Vries

Marloes de Vries is a storyteller by heart. She was born on the countryside of the Netherlands and decided at the tender age of three to become an artist.
She sticked to it and after graduating with a BDes (Bachelor of Design) at Artez, Academy for Visual Arts and Design in Enschede (Netherlands), she worked as a graphic designer and art director. Although she liked her job, she missed the art of drawing and the smell of paints. So in 2010 she picked up a pencil and started drawing again. She quit her job and decided to take the leap and continue on as an illustrator, which she calls 'the best decision in my life'. She now lives and works in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
Marloes likes to tell stories with her illustrations, but is also writing them. She prefers combining pencil, paper cutting and gouache with digital.
